The admission to the nine All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is taken through the AIIMS MBBS 2019 entrance exam. AIIMS is considered to be the most coveted Institute for which the number of aspirants taking the entrance exam goes up to 3 lakh. AIIMS, New Delhi is the responsible body for holding the admission process each year. AIIMS offers admission to 807 (7 seats are reserved for foreign nationals) seats available across nine AIIMS - New Delhi, Rishikesh, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Guntur and Nagpur.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) entrance test for under graduate course consist of 200 questions, out of which 120 questions are MCQs type and 60 questions are Assertion-Reason type in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 20 questions are of GK and Aptitude & Logical Thinking. Each correct response shall get 1 mark and each incorrect response will get a score of – 1/3. Duration of test is 3 ½ hrs. Maximum marks are 200.

Approximately, 100 seats for Indian Nationals and 7 seats for Foreign Nationals are available for admission to MBBS course. Out of these seats: 15 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes (SC), 8 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST),27 seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 50 seats for General Category for Indian Nationals 5% reservation for Person with Benchmark Disability (PWBD).

Note: The Computer Based Test (CBT) will be conducted in two shifts per day. Morning Shift - 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and Afternoon Shift - 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Eligibility Criteria for AIIMS

Nationality: Candidates should be of Indian origin. They should belong to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) category and must be registered under Section 7A of Indian Citizenship Act 1955. Aspirants belonging to foreign nationals’ category must be nominated by the Indian Government.

Age Limit: A candidate should complete 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2019. Aspirants born on or after January 2, 2003, are not eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification:

For Indian Nationals: Candidates must have passed Class 12th board or equivalent examination of 10+2 education system recognized by AIIMS Delhi. They should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English subjects in 10+2. Students belonging to General and OBC categories must have secured a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate of the above subjects and belonging to SC, ST and OPH categories should have obtained at least 50%.

For Foreign Nationals: A Foreign candidate nominated by the Government of India are required to have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in their Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission to the MBBS Course.
